FINAL THOUGHTS
As in our World Cruise blogs, I'm including our "Final Thoughts" to this blog.
First of all, I can't say enough about Abercrombie & Kent and the excellent service they provided to us. If we ever go on another land tour to new and exotic places, I wouldn't hesitate to use A&K again. Their knowledge and professionalism in navigating through the normal hassles visitors experience in foreign countries is worth the price of admission alone. Their guides are unbelievably knowledgeable, professional and personable. Each one of our guides, Ahmed, Zak and Moody, brought a wealth of information to us during this trip.
Michael and I have talked about our experiences many times since we arrived home and here are our favorite moments:
Michael
"I like seeing a guy with an Uzi - it's incredibly comforting." (This is a reference to the security guard assigned to our group while at the Pyramids in Egypt.
Michael LOVED the pyramids. He'd always wanted to visit Egypt. He was absolutely overcome with excitement to be standing before these ancient wonders which he had only ever seen in magazines and television. This was a wish of a lifetime come true.
He also loved the snowstorm in Jordan (outside of Petra on the way to Wadi Rum), and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem where we found out why Mary wasn't allowed in the inn.
Leona
Since I'm a girl, my "favorites" are tied in with my emotions which I have described in the previous entries in this blog.
Egypt: King Tutankhamen's Tomb
Jordan: The kindness shown to me by the waiter, Saleh, and Dimitri at the Kempinski Hotel
Israel: Our visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and the Rock of Anointation at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. (I don't have an ounce of maternal instinct in me; I can only imagine the incredible pain Mary endured while she prepared her son, Jesus, for burial.)
I can't agree more with Michael about the Uzi!
ReplyDeleteLeona, thanks so much for the wonderful blog. We are glad you and Michael had such a wonderful trip. We have looked at the photos several times. You took great notes and there is one great photo of you taking notes. Are there any more countries on the bucket list?
